Oregon Trail Game
Hundreds of people look for the Oregon Trail game online on any given day. It is a long-standing favorite amongst adults and children alike. It was created in 1971 by three student teachers at Carleton College, Northfield, Minnesota. It was originally used for one of the teachers’ history class.
The premise of the game was based on the real-life experiences of pioneers who traveled from Independence, Missouri to Oregon’s Willamette Valley in 1848, which came to be known as “The Oregon Trail.” Players are presented with situations encountered along the trail, and must decide upon various options. Consequences will vary depending upon the decisions made by the player. Weather, food supplies, hunting, resource management, diseases, and other conditions have an effect on the outcome of the journey that the pioneers undertake. Scores are tallied up at the end of the game based on which profession was chosen, i.e., carpenter, farmer.
There is an online hunting version of the Oregon Trail game, however, most people are looking for the full version of the original game when using search engines.
